Balbala is where Act 2 stops being a cosy warm-up and starts asking if your character can actually survive. You walk in thinking your damage is fine, maybe you’ve even picked up some PoE 2 Currency to smooth out upgrades, and then the fight reminds you that panic-clicking isn’t a strategy. The room is tight, the center pit messes with movement and line of sight, and if you lose track of where she is for even a second, you’re about to eat something you didn’t see coming.
The Arena Will Get You First That little arena is the real opener. It’s not a big, friendly circle where you can kite forever. The pit in the middle cuts the space in half, and you can’t just zip straight across like you want to. So don’t play like it’s an open field. Keep rotating around the edges, take short steps, and try not to back yourself into corners. A lot of deaths happen because someone dodges once, then dodges again, and suddenly there’s nowhere left to go. If your movement skill has any delay, you’ll feel it here. Poison Gas Is a Test of Nerves Then comes the part that makes people slam their desk: the poison fog. She disappears, everything goes green, and your life starts ticking down like you left the stove on. Running in random zigzags usually makes it worse. Stick near the outer wall and scan for her shape. You’re hunting for a silhouette, not trying to “out-run” the gas. When you spot her, close the distance to break the phase, but don’t face-tank the follow-up. She’ll often punish that with a heavy hit right after you reconnect. Also, if your poison resistance is negative, this can feel unreal. Fix that before you blame your build. Coins, Shades, and Flask Management The coin mechanics look like chaos, but there’s a rhythm to it. When she tosses runes and shade copies show up, your first instinct is to freak out and clear everything instantly. Instead, use them. Shades can be free flask charges if you kill them cleanly, and flasks matter more than your tooltip DPS in this fight. Tap a shade when you need resources, then go back to watching Balbala’s position. The best runs are the calm ones: dodge, hit, refill, repeat. You’re not racing; you’re surviving. Make Small Prep Changes, Win Big If you keep dying, it’s rarely because you need some wild new build. It’s usually one or two practical fixes: swap a ring for poison res, roll your flasks so they actually help, and give yourself a tiny bit more breathing room with defense. Dropping a little damage to stay alive is worth it, because once she goes down the whole game opens up, and that’s when your character finally starts to feel “online.” If you’re gearing up for the next push, checking u4gm poe can help round out the missing pieces without derailing your setup. |
